As part of ongoing efforts to streamline TIR operations to and from China, IRU is increasing its on-the-ground support at major border crossings.
TIR vehicles from China, Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan recently completed their border procedures before departing from Alashankou, a critical node at the China-Kazakhstan border.

The operations were facilitated by IRU’s on-site assistance and its close engagement with public and private partners.
Through hands-on support and TIR training, IRU helped customs and logistics operators – including IRU members CEVA Logistics, TRU Logistics, and Horgos Land Port International Logistics – enhance their ability to facilitate TIR formalities, particularly for non-Chinese operators.
IRU Chief Representative for East and Southeast Asia Ran Wang said, “By strengthening real-time collaboration and providing practical, operational support, we’re helping global companies overcome hurdles during cross-border processes.”
“IRU will continue to expand its support at China’s key border crossings and inland cities to ensure TIR delivers its full potential for trade and connectivity,” he added.
A growing number of global supply chain actors are establishing local business connections and benefiting from rapidly expanding TIR operations along China-Europe corridors. With IRU’s dedicated efforts, TIR procedures at China’s Alashankou and Horgos have been further optimised, enabling international transport companies to benefit from even more efficient operations at these key border crossings.
IRU also spent the afternoon with the heroes of the road, truck drivers, at the Horgos border crossing. “It was very insightful hearing firsthand from truck drivers about their experiences, challenges and needs on the road,” said Ran Wang.
By working with the industry on the ground, IRU strengthens TIR to work better for the people who keep trade moving.
