IRU has conducted a training session in the UAE, with presentations on specific TIR services and tools as well as practical scenarios for the implementation of the system with a view to it becoming operational next month.

Hosted by the Automobile and Tourism Club of the UAE and the Federal Customs Authority (FCA) in Dubai, the TIR training programme is part of the drive to reinforce local capacity to implement TIR

Experts and specialists from the Federal Customs Authority, the Federal Authority for Land and Maritime Transport, and national customs agencies gained full understanding of their roles in forging ahead with TIR in the coming weeks.

Mohammed Jumaa Busaiba, Director General of FCA, said,
“The implementation of the first phase of the TIR system in the UAE… aims to facilitate trade between contracting parties in the field of international road transport, while adhering to international standards and increasing competitiveness globally.”
