Saudi Arabia has announced that it is in the final stages of operationalising the TIR system, strengthening the strategic position of the Kingdom as a regional trade and transit logistics hub.
The announcement was made by the Governor of Saudi Customs, H.E. Mr Ahmed Alhakbani, at the Saudi Logistics Conference in Riyadh. Held under the patronage of the Minister of Transport H.E. Dr Nabil Al-Amudi, the three-day event was attended by a host of ministers, dignitaries and heads of logistics, as well as trading, real estate, and transport companies.
During his speech, Mr Alhakbani detailed the benefits of the TIR System, how transport operators and freight forwarders can join it, and the nine customs offices across the country that will be open for TIR during the first phase of the system being operational.
