TIR continues to strengthen regional trade, enabling faster, more secure road freight movements between Türkiye and Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries.
Turkish transport operator Saritaş Logistics has successfully completed a cargo delivery from Türkiye to the United Arab Emirates under the TIR system, transiting through Saudi Arabia.
A fleet of 14 Saritaş Logistics trucks completed the door-to-door TIR journey in ten days, as opposed to 20-30 days by sea.
This operation marks another concrete step in strengthening road transport connectivity between Türkiye and the GCC region.
The use of TIR significantly reduced waiting times, simplified customs formalities, and ensured the security of the sealed load compartment throughout the journey.
Saritaş Logistics General Manager Ahmet Sari said, “This successful operation via Saudi Arabia is a major milestone for regional road transport.
“It proves that land connections between Türkiye and the GCC region are once again viable and highly competitive when supported by TIR.”
IRU General Delegate in Istanbul Erman Ereke said, “This milestone demonstrates how the TIR transit system can act as a bridge connecting Türkiye with the GCC region, unlocking new trade routes and raising the resilience of supply chains.”
The successful completion of this journey paves the way for more operators to consider the Saudi transit corridor as a practical and cost-effective alternative to maritime routes.
With growing regional cooperation and the continued expansion of TIR operations, more efficient, secure, and sustainable trade between Türkiye and GCC countries is set to become a lasting reality.
What is TIR?
The global TIR transit system enables goods to be shipped from a country of origin to a country of destination in sealed load compartments that are controlled by customs under a multilateral, mutually recognised system.
It is the easiest, safest and most reliable way to move goods across international borders, saving time and money for transport operators and customs authorities.
