New IRU research frames pathway to sustainable mobility for Eurasia

23 Nov 2018

IRU research highlights common issues for the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), urging member countries to adopt national programmes for fleet renewal and digitalisation, harmonise professional training, and establish a common framework for access to the bus and coach transport market.

The recommendations were endorsed by Ministers at the CIS Coordinating Transport Council this week and will be distributed across the region as a toolkit for CIS national transport administrations to use when shaping the future of transport policies and regulations.

Addressing CIS Transport Ministers, IRU’s lead in Eurasia, Dmitry Cheltsov, presented the results of the survey as well as a new IRU-Eurasian Economic Commission study on the current status and prospects of bus and coach transport development in the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU).
