Kyrgyzstan now connected with digital TIR

22 Mar 2022 · Prosperity

Kyrgyzstan has joined other countries in Central Asia where digital TIR is already available. This addition aims to support secure, legal and efficient trade and transit in the region.

A truck has left Uzbekistan to deliver radiators to Kyrgyzstan. The Uzbek and Kyrgyz customs authorities have successfully processed the TIR guarantees digitally. Operators had used the TIR-EPD electronic pre-declaration system to streamline customs procedures.

This marks an important milestone in regional trade facilitation led by IRU, with the support of the US Commercial Law Development Program (CLDP), the Organisation of Turkic States and the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ).

IRU is working with national authorities and IRU members in the region to support further TIR digitalisation.

For more information, please contact IRU’s TIR and Transit team.
