IRU presented to the ASEAN Truck Federation (ATF) at its annual meeting in Jakarta this week, highlighting the benefits of TIR and the positive role for IRU Academy.
IRU introduced the Academy’s pivotal role in training drivers to improve road safety in the Southeastern Asian region to members of the newly-established ATF, comprising associations from nine out of the ten ASEAN countries.
The highly efficient and streamlined TIR system was also emphasised, with a demonstration of how China’s recent accession to TIR, coupled with TIR expansion to more ASEAN countries, will help facilitate trade in the region by reducing the cost and time of crossing borders.
