Uzbekistan has successfully deployed the eTIR National Application, joining its neighbours in fully digitalising TIR road transport operations.

A shipment of bulk materials from Tajikistan marked the first eTIR operation for Uzbekistan.

It followed training on the eTIR National Application provided by IRU and the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) to the State Customs Committee of Uzbekistan. Representatives from the main TIR border crossing points between Uzbekistan and its neighbouring countries joined the training.

The eTIR National Application, developed by UNECE, allows countries to use this off-the-shelf solution to fast-track eTIR. Its deployment in Uzbekistan represents another major milestone in the digitalisation of TIR across Central Asia, powering more efficient, secure and paperless trade.

IRU also held meetings with UNECE, Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan’s customs authorities, as well as IRU members from both countries, ABBAT and AIRCUZ, on upcoming eTIR operations between Uzbekistan and Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan.

Earlier this year, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan conducted their first two eTIR transport operations, driving momentum for digital transit solutions in the region.
