Turkic States: private and public partners stir debate on e-CMR
The Organisation of Turkic States (OTS), together with the UN and IRU, has led a workshop on e-CMR, as more countries from the region join the protocol. A recent workshop organised by OTS, the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) and IRU sought to raise awareness on e-CMR among public and private actors. The participants were also informed of the ongoing discussions at the UNECE’s GE.22, the Group of Experts on the Operationalisation of e-CMR.
European Road Freight Rate Benchmark Q4 2022: Spot index down 2.4 points in Q4, first fall since Q1 2020
The Upply x Ti x IRU European road freight rates index for Europe shows that spot rates fell by 2.4 index points in Q4 2022 vs Q3. This represents the first fall in the spot index since Q1 2020, but spot rates still remain up 18.1 points on Q4 2021. Meanwhile, the contract rates index rose 0.4 points quarter-on-quarter in Q4 and contract rates are now up 19.0 points year-on-year.
EU sectoral social dialogue support crucial, say 32 partners
European social partners have called upon EU commissioners to ensure that social dialogue committees have the necessary financial and political support needed. In a joint letter to Executive Vice-President Valdis Dombrovskis and Commissioner Nicolas Schmit, IRU has joined forces with social partners representing 17 sectors to voice their concerns over the EU Commission’s proposal of multiyear, “project-based” financing for social dialogue committees.
