IRU outlines roadmap for smarter urban transport for India

22 Nov 2016

The All India Smart Move high level group, led by IRU, has revealed research into ways to make passenger transport “work smarter” for India.

Addressing urban transport professionals as well as international experts at the annual Urban Mobility India (UMI) Conference and Expo, the group outlined a roadmap for achieving sustainable electromobility as a way forward for decarbonising transport in India.

IRU’s Mobility Innovation Task Force was also highlighted. Comprising experts from IRU’s membership, the Task Force focuses on new mobility and business concepts, as well as enabling technologies.

The conference, held this year in Gujarat, India is an annual event covering all aspects of “intelligent, inclusive and sustainable” urban mobility and is organised by the Institute of Urban Transport (India) under the aegis of the Ministry of Urban Development, Government of India. UMI is mandated by the National Urban Transport Policy of the Government of India, 2006 (NUTP).
