IRU Secretary General, Umberto de Pretto, met with UN Secretary General Ban Ki Moon at the first UN Global Conference on Sustainable Transport in Ashgabat. IRU highlighted the exemplary public private partnership which has existed between the UN and IRU since 1948, the first PPP in the UN's history that has resulted in the effective facilitation of trade and transport and laid the foundation for sustainable transport around the world.
