IRU celebrates 60 years of road transport excellence in Poland

20 Sep 2017

IRU congratulates Polish member association, ZMPD, on achieving 60 years of excellence in championing road transport and trade in Poland and beyond.

A longstanding trade and ideas hub, Poland continues to play a crucial role in European and Eurasian road transport.

ZMPD has been a member of IRU since 1958 and is an important voice in road transport internationally. ZMPDs work over many years with IRU, with the TIR system, with neighbouring countries, and with the EU and the United Nations, has given Poland – and Polish trucks as they cross the continent – an excellent professional reputation.

Commenting on this significant milestone, IRU President, Christian Labrot, said, “On behalf of the global road transport industry, IRU thanks ZMPD for 60 years of hard work, persistence, dedication and success.”

Mr Labrot, and IRU Secretary General, Umberto de Pretto, in turn received ZMPD’s prestigious Friend of Road Transport award honouring their professional and social accomplishments in representing Polish hauliers.
