ATA and UPS CEOs nominated to White House Economic Revival Group

16 Apr 2020 · Prosperity

American Trucking Associations (ATA) CEO, Chris Spear and UPS CEO, David Abney, have been selected to join the White House Economic Revival Group formed to plan for the post COVID-19 economic recovery.

Long-standing IRU members, ATA and UPS’ inclusion in the United States Economic Revival Group, along with eight other industry leaders, signals the American Government’s recognition of road transport as an essential component of the country’s economic return to growth.

Trucking moves more than 71% of all freight in America and accounts for nearly 6% of all full-time jobs in the country. Close to 1 million jobs are in the trucking industry, which brings USD 700 billion to the US economy annually.

“We congratulate Chris and David for their nomination to the Group and welcome the White House recognition of road transport as a key player of the economy,” said IRU Secretary General Umberto de Pretto. “This is an example we want to see other governments around the world follow.”
