IRU distances itself from any claims or attempts to suggest that there is a unified position among road transport operators across the EU calling for EU-level intervention on subcontracting.
As the employers’ social partner representing road transport operators in the EU Sectoral Social Dialogue Committee for Road Transport, IRU represents the interests of operators of all sizes, from small and medium-sized enterprises and owner-operators to larger transport companies.
Practices, market structures and approaches to subcontracting vary substantially across EU Member States.
There is therefore no consistent position among road transport operators across the EU supporting EU intervention on subcontracting, nor a legitimate basis for presenting such a position as representative of the employers’ side of the sector.
IRU will continue its work with its members and its EU trade union social partner, ETF, on issues where common ground can be established, reflecting the diversity of road transport operators and national markets in the EU.
