IRU’s work presented to the next generation of transport engineers

10 Nov 2016

IRU, as part of its ongoing work to positively promote an awareness of the sector and the opportunities it can offer to young people, brought together 150 undergraduate students at the Faculty of Transport and Traffic Sciences, University of Zagreb, Croatia. Discussions focused in large part on the role the new technologies are likely to play in the future and the services based on these technologies that IRU is developing with it members.

IRU showcased the eTIR, TRANSpark and Route Planner, digital transport documents and autonomous driving as examples of how new technology is shaping the future of road transport leading to further improved efficiency and environmental performance. The work being undertaken in European Commission funded projects was also used to demonstrate the diversity of roles on offer to future road transport and logistics engineers.
