Eight-truck TIR convoy reinforces trade efficiency and security via Iraq

19 Aug 2025 · Prosperity

A convoy of TIR trucks has reached Jordan from Türkiye via Iraq – an itinerary that is quickly gaining popularity in the Middle East.

Turkish TIR operator DMN Lojistik has successfully delivered – in under five days – a shipment split among eight trucks to the Jordanian capital of Amman, having departed from Gaziantep, Türkiye, and transited through Iraq.

Since Iraq opened its borders for TIR transit earlier this year, transport operators have been rushing to reap the benefits of this route.

Highlighting the time and cost savings compared to maritime or multi-modal routes, transport operators have unanimously praised the increase in efficiency that this itinerary is providing.

DMN Lojistik General Manager Serdar Duman said, “We are thrilled with this new milestone for DMN Lojistik: a secure and efficient trade route from Türkiye to Jordan via Iraq.

“Building on our recent success with the Türkiye-to-Kuwait TIR journey, this expansion reinforces our commitment to creating new opportunities while prioritising the safety and security of every shipment.”

What is TIR?

The United Nations-backed TIR system, managed by IRU, enables goods to be shipped from a country of origin to a country of destination in sealed load compartments that are controlled by customs under a multilateral, mutually recognised system.

It is the easiest, safest and most reliable way to move goods across international borders, saving time and money for transport operators and customs authorities.
