Professional drivers awarded for excellence

9 Nov 2016

IRU awarded its Diploma of Honour to 1,157 bus, coach and truck drivers from twenty five countries worldwide for their excellent driving and safety records.

This prestigious award honours long-serving, safe, loyal and upstanding goods or passenger professional drivers who have performed to the full satisfaction of current and previous employers.

Each award winner has professionally driven a minimum of one million kilometres during a career of at least twenty years without causing an accident or committing any serious violation of traffic, customs or administrative regulations. They represent the high level of professionalism and training that IRU promotes through IRU Academy and offer an example to younger drivers.

Announcing the results at the General Assembly last week, IRU Secretary General, Umberto de Pretto, thanked the national associations for publishing the award to their members and applauded them for their exceptional achievements.

This year’s winners come from the following countries: Argentina (2), Austria (24), Belarus (123), Belgium (41), Czech Republic (73), Denmark (29), Estonia (8), Finland (31), France (9), Germany (157), Hungary (82), Kazakhstan (19), Latvia (11), Lithuania (67), Luxembourg (2), Macedonia (2), Netherlands (74), Poland (114), Portugal (9), Romania (11), Russia (84), Slovakia (49), Spain (11), Turkey (36), Ukraine (78).
