IRU Secretary General Umberto de Pretto was in the United Arab Emirates this week to meet with H.E. Ahmed Mahboob Musabih, Director General of Dubai Customs, H.E. Rashed Lahej Al Mansoori, Director General of Abu Dhabi Customs, and H.E. Khalid Ali Al Bustani, Director General of the Federal Tax Authority.
The extremely constructive discussions focused on short-term measures to allow the UAE to capitalise more fully from global trade facilitation and the security benefits of the TIR system.
The Secretary General also took the opportunity to meet with the CEO of IRU’s new corporate member Tristar, Mr Eugene Mayne, to discuss global transport trends and the advantages enjoyed by Tristar of IRU’s RoadMasters accreditation in driving safety and efficiency across their road transport supply chain.
