IRU President, Christian Labrot, announced today at meetings in Oman, the unanimous decision to award the distinction of IRU Honorary Member to a well-known member of the IRU family – Professor Dr. Karlheinz Schmidt, in recognition of the years he has dedicated to supporting IRU’s work in the transport industry.
Before retiring, Prof. Dr. Schmidt worked for the German Association, BGL, for 39 years, of which 21 of those were as the Secretary General and Executive Member of the Board.
Known as the “Face of German Professional Transport”, Prof. Dr. Schmidt was actively involved in many areas of IRU’s work, regularly attending the bi-annual AG, CTM and CLTM meetings.
