Qatar Chamber of Commerce and Industry joins IRU

21 Nov 2017

The Qatar Chamber of Commerce and Industry (QCCI), established in 1963 and one of the oldest Chambers of Commerce in the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, has joined IRU.

The QCCI’s mission is to better represent and support the Qatar business community and highlight the available business opportunities within the various sectors and industries in Qatar.

Its principal role is to represent, defend and promote commercial, industrial and agricultural interests, and to support and develop the economy and productivity of the country in general, and the member companies in particular. Additionally, QCCI develops Qatar’s international trading system and enhances its cooperation with other chambers of commerce around the world.

In view of the Qatari authorities’ intention to accede to the TIR Convention, the General Authority of Qatar Customs has officially requested that the Qatar Chamber become the National Guaranteeing and Issuing Association for TIR in the State of Qatar, which the Qatar Chamber has accepted. QCCI has also agreed with Qatar Customs to become the national guarantor and issuer of the ATA Carnets in Qatar.
