21 Sep 2018

IRU’s Group of Experts on the Transport of Dangerous Goods (GEMD) has elected new leaders for the 2018-2019 term

Ahmet Karakas, from the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey, is the newly elected President. Peter Hari, from the Swiss Road Transport Association, was reappointed Vice President.

GEMD monitors, develops and influences the UN ADR Agreement governing the international transport of hazardous materials. It is also responsible for informing IRU members on changes to existing rules and regulations. In addition, it plays a critical role in proposing and implementing new safer transport strategies for moving dangerous goods.
