A new six-day transport corridor – enabled by the global TIR transit system – is giving traders more options in the Middle East and strengthening regional connections.
A newly launched RoRo line between Umm Qasr (Iraq) and Dubai (UAE), operated by IRU member DP World, has reduced the total transport time between Türkiye and Dubai to just six days in both directions, cutting costs for transport operators and shippers.
The RoPax vessel allows drivers to travel on board alongside their vehicles, improving operational continuity and efficiency.
“The Umm Qasr–Dubai sea leg takes approximately 36 hours. This is a terrific development for fast and secure transport in the Middle East,” said Ahmet Sarı, owner of transport company Sarıtaş Lojistik, which has already tested the new service.
The RoRo line is open to all types of cargo, providing flexibility for a wide range of industries and supply chains. “The service supports smoother cross-border logistics, improving transport predictability,” Seyithan Birmeç, owner of Trans 63, another transport company that has tested the service.
“The new six-day TIR route is an important step towards deeper trade facilitation, leveraging Iraq as a key transit hub between Türkiye and the GCC,” said Erman Ereke, IRU’s General Delegate in Istanbul.
With shorter transit times, lower costs and improved reliability, the new TIR Türkiye–Dubai transport route will boost connectivity and trade across the Middle East.
