The Specialized Carriers & Rigging Association (SC&RA) is an international trade association based in Centreville, Virginia, USA. Established in 1947, SC&RA comprises 1,400 members from 46 nations worldwide who are involved in specialised transportation, machinery moving and erecting, industrial maintenance, millwrighting and crane and rigging operations as well as manufacturing and rental.

SC&RA’s mission is to advocate, educate and provide networking opportunities to support the industry in operating safely, legally and profitably around the world. It helps its members run more efficient and safer businesses by monitoring and affecting pending legislation and regulatory policies, researching and reporting on safety concerns and best business practices, and providing four yearly forums where these and other relevant member issues can be advanced.

SC&RA is the founder and an active member of the World Crane & Transport Alliance (WCTA), which was established to foster information sharing, best practices and viable policies with other specialised transport and construction groups throughout the world. WCTA consists of member associations from all corners of the world including Australia, Canada, the Netherlands, Brazil and New Zealand.

SC&RA is governed by a Board of Directors and four groups that report to the Board: Allied Industries, Crane & Rigging and Transportation. All Board and Committee members are volunteers from SC&RA member companies who possess invaluable knowledge of the industry, information on how regulatory decisions will impact member companies, and the current issues facing their members.
