IRU Position on emission trading, (2008)
In this Position, the IRU emphasises that road transport, which is vital for economic and social development and yet suffers from a heavy tax burden, would be further penalised by the Emission Trading Schemes (ETS) which would increase this burden -hence penalising the economy as a whole- without effectively decreasing CO2 emissions.
