IRU Position on the compulsory professional driver training in view of the revision of EU Directive 2003/59 on the initial qualification and periodic training of drivers (2014)
The IRU Position focuses on the need for an EU-wide level playing field on driver training calling for harmonised minimum standards for knowledge and skills, calls for greater actions that would make the profession more attractive to younger people and address industry-wide driver shortages, and calls for flexibility to reflect the many differing aspects of road transport operations.
