The Third Regional High-Level Dialogue for Asia, themed “Holistic Strategies for Sustainable, Inclusive, and Efficient Transport Systems," will be co-hosted by the China Academy of Transportation Sciences (CATS) from the Ministry of Transport.
This event will be held synergistically with China’s 2024 Global Sustainable Transport Forum (25–26 September).
The ITF’s high-level dialogue and China’s Global Sustainable Transport Forum synergistically align their objectives by creating a collaborative platform dedicated to advancing sustainable mobility. Both initiatives emphasise the importance of creating efficient, accessible and environmentally friendly transport systems for all. This alignment promotes international cooperation and fosters innovative solutions, ensuring that transport policies and infrastructure developments significantly contribute to global sustainability goals. Together, they pave the way for a future where mobility is not only efficient and accessible but also resilient and sustainable.
The third high-level dialogue brings together diverse perspectives from across Asia and aims to:
- Promote collaboration: Foster stakeholder collaboration to strengthen sustainable, inclusive and efficient transport systems, promoting synergies and partnerships for a greener future.
- Identify key challenges: Analyse obstacles hindering sustainable, inclusive and efficient transport networks in both urban and rural areas, such as infrastructure gaps, regulatory barriers and coordination issues.
- Share best practices: Showcase innovative approaches and technologies from different Asian regions that have advanced sustainable, inclusive and efficient mobility.
- Policy formulation: Contribute to evidence-based policies, frameworks and strategies that enhance transport sustainability, inclusivity and efficiency, considering resilience and adaptability.
Key discussion outcomes will be carried forward to the 2025 ITF Summit (hosting country’s head of delegation presenting at the ministerial session) and other global and regional transport events in 2024 and 2025, as well as to guide the development of an evidence-based policy framework in Asia.
