Energy and Climate Summit 2026

Brussels | IRU participation | Invitation only

Join IRU in Brussels for the Energy and Climate Summit 2026, where European policymakers, industry leaders and investors will discuss how Europe can accelerate its energy transition while strengthening competitiveness, resilience and energy security.

Led by Friends of Europe, with IRU as a co-organising partner, the summit comes as energy and industrial policy are becoming increasingly intertwined. Discussions will focus on the practical choices facing Europe, from affordable energy and stronger grids to electrification, investment and a more integrated European energy market.

These choices will have a direct impact on the transition of commercial road transport. Electrification requires not only zero-emission vehicles, but sufficient grid capacity and charging infrastructure, competitive energy prices and investment conditions that allow operators to make the transition at scale.

IRU Director EU Advocacy & General Delegate Raluca Marian will bring the sector’s perspective to the session “Electrification as Europe’s competitiveness pathway”, from 12:05 to 12:55. The debate will examine what is holding back electrification in Europe and how energy, grid and market policies can support a competitive transition.

The session will be followed by European Commissioner for Energy and Housing Dan Jørgensen, who will discuss how completing the Energy Union can accelerate the energy transition.

Join us on 13 October at TownHall Europe, Square de Meeûs 5–6, Brussels.
