IRU will participate in Industry Day at Brussels Climate Week, joining a morning event with The Parliament Magazine on a question facing the whole sector: how can Europe decarbonise heavy-duty road transport without losing industrial competitiveness?
The morning begins at 09:30 with interviews with Christophe Yvetot, Representative to the European Union at the United Nations Industrial Development Organization, and Pierfrancesco Maran, Member of the European Parliament.
The panel debate "From targets to reality: Unlocking a competitive transition for commercial road transport" follows from 11:30 to 12:10.
IRU EU Director Raluca Marian will bring the sector's perspective, joined by Jan-Christoph Oetjen, Member of the European Parliament, Lucie Mattera, Secretary General of ChargeUp Europe, and Arthur Corbin, Business Adviser to Executive Vice-President Stéphane Séjourné at the European Commission. A light networking lunch closes the morning.
The panel will address three questions:
- Can the EU decarbonise heavy-duty road transport without weakening its industrial base?
- How can policymakers give operators, energy providers and industry the confidence to invest?
- Are infrastructure, energy supply and financing developing fast enough to support the transition?
Brussels Climate Week is organised by the City of Brussels with Tech for Climate Action. Over five days, it brings policymakers, business leaders, innovators and local communities together to turn ideas into concrete action and to show how technology, policy and cooperation can make Europe more sustainable and more competitive.
