What Ukraine can teach us about resilience in transport

I come from a small town near Vinnytsia, a city in central Ukraine. I first learned about road transport from my mother, who teaches at a local technical college, training students for careers in transport and logistics.

Since the start of the war in Ukraine in 2022, I have been impressed by how resilient Ukrainian businesses, especially in transport and logistics, have been in adapting to daily war-related challenges.

This inspired me to explore the topic further during my studies in Business Innovation & Entrepreneurship.

In my Master's thesis, I examined how Ukrainian logistics and transport companies adapt to constant uncertainty, maintain their operations and develop new ways of working.

I focused on how they respond to disrupted supply chains, labour shortages and energy supply issues through route reorganisation, digitalisation, automation and the growing role of women in transport and logistics.

As the world becomes increasingly uncertain and companies face growing pressure to adapt quickly, I believe the Ukrainian experience offers relevant insights into resilience, flexibility and decision-making under pressure.

Through my work, I want to bring these experiences into a wider discussion and explore how they can contribute to the future of transport and logistics.
