At the 23rd Ministerial Conference of the Central Asia Regional Economic Cooperation (CAREC), the ministers endorsed the CAREC 2030 Strategy Midterm Review (MTR) and called for the MTR of sectoral strategies, including the CAREC Transport Strategy (CTS) 2030. CAREC Secretariat and ADB Transport Sector Office consulted with CAREC member countries and other stakeholders to prepare a draft MTR of CTS 2030.
The upcoming 22nd CAREC Transport Sector Coordinating Committee (TSCC) meeting will discuss the CTS MTR recommendations as well as ongoing and planned investment projects and policy actions of the CAREC member countries and their needs for financial and technical assistance from the international development community. The CAREC development partners will respond by summarising their priorities, aligned with the CAREC member countries’ needs.
Based on the TSCC discussions, the CTS MTR will be further presented to the Senior Officials Meeting on 18 June 2025 and eventually endorsed by the ministers during the 24th CAREC Ministerial Conference, currently planned for November 2025.
IRU General Delegate to Eurasia Vadim Zakharenko will speak during session 3: CAREC Development Partners’ Response to Regional Transport and Logistics Challenges. He will focus on recent IRU activities in the CAREC region related to the implementation of TIR, border-crossing facilitation, digitalisation, and professionalisation.
