As the EU redefines its priorities on competitiveness, energy security and industrial policy, this conference will bring together representatives from EU institutions and Member States, industry leaders across key value chains, and economists.
Discussions will focus on the role of domestic fuel manufacturing in Europe’s industrial ecosystem, the implications of declining manufacturing capacity for security of supply and value‑chain resilience, and the regulatory conditions required to unlock investment and scale up low‑carbon fuels and products in Europe.
IRU EU Goods Transport Associate Director Marc Billiet will participate in Session II, "Together We Create Value: Industrial Value Chains", from 11:15 to 12:15.
The session will focus on the systemic role of fuel manufacturing across Europe’s industrial value chains, exploring the strong interdependencies between fuels, transport and logistics, the chemical industry, agriculture and other energy intensive sectors.
It will also look at how capacity erosion in one segment can cascade across multiple industries, raising important questions for EU industrial policy coherence, particularly in the context of the Clean Industrial Deal and related legislative files.
