The United Nations Office of the High Representative for the Least Developed Countries, Landlocked Developing Countries and Small Island Developing States and the International Trade Centre are hosting the Landlocked Developed Countries Private Sector Forum.
The Forum will be held as a special event of the Third United Nations Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries (LLDC3), and will take place from 5 to 8 August 2025 in Awaza, Turkmenistan.
The Forum offers a unique opportunity to provide recommendations to governments at the LLDC3 Conference, which is held once every ten years to convene Heads of State and Government of the full United Nations Membership of 193 countries alongside international organisations and other stakeholders to define the next decade’s development agenda for landlocked developing countries (LLDCs).
The Forum features a programme of high-level speakers, thematic sessions, side-events and networking and exhibition areas. Discussions and key events will be held on trade, technology, infrastructure, and investment, with a view to supporting the sustainable development of the LLDCs.
IRU Secretary General Umberto de Pretto will speak during various sessions and side-events, including:
- Thematic Session I: Trade and Transit on 5 August, from 16:00 to 17:15. Organised by UN-OHRLLS and ITC
- LLDC Transport and Transit Session: Connectivity Track (from landlocked to landlinked) on 6 August, from 14:00 to 17:30. Organised by UN-OHRLLS and the Government of Turkmenistan
- Side event: ECO and Implementation of the Awaza Programme of Acon 2024–2034 on 6 August from 18:15 to 19:45. Organised by the ECO Secretariat
- High-level roundtable 4: Building sustainable infrastructure, strengthening connectivity, and promoting unfettered transit systems for landlocked developing countries, on 7 August from 10:00 to 13:00. Organised by UN-OHRLLS
