IRU has awarded its Diploma of Honour to 1,248 bus, coach, taxi and truck drivers from 25 countries worldwide for their outstanding driving and safety records.

Every year, the IRU Presidential Executive awards the prestigious IRU Diploma of Honour to drivers from different countries worldwide for their excellent driving and safety records.

Each award winner has professionally driven a minimum of 1 million kilometres during a career of at least 20 years without causing an accident or committing any serious violation of traffic, customs or administrative regulations. They represent the high level of professionalism and training that IRU promotes through the IRU Academy and offer an example to younger drivers.

Reflecting on the exceptional professionalism displayed by this year’s winners, IRU Secretary General Umberto de Pretto said, “Congratulations to all the recipients of the 2023 IRU Diploma of Honour. Your outstanding driving and safety records are a testament to the high level of professionalism upheld by our industry. You’re a true inspiration to the generations to come."

“Drivers are what make our industry great. Your dedication and commitment keep our industry going, serving people and communities everywhere, every day. Thank you for your outstanding dedication, exemplary work and unwavering commitment. You are all real life heroes," he added.
