EU members must move to “digital single market”

29 Mar 2017

Highlighting that digitalisation will be key to the success and survival of transport and logistics companies in Europe, Violeta Bulc, the European Commissioner for Transport, has urged the goods transport sector to work with the European Commission and EU member states to push for legislative reforms and policies to support better use of developing technologies.

Speaking at the recent event marking the 20th anniversary of the Association of European Vehicle Logistics (ECG) in Brussels, Bulc mentioned the importance of digital documentation such as e-CMR and argued that moving towards a “digital single market” will generate efficiencies and cost-savings across Europe.

Digitalising logistics operations is the first step towards enabling game-changing innovations such as autonomous vehicles, and will streamline processes to better facilitate global trade.
