Sustainable Transport the focus of talks with International Chamber of Commerce

7 Mar 2017

The Global Partnership for Sustainable Transport (GPST) was the main focus of talks held between the International Chamber of Commerce and IRU. John Danilovich, Secretary General of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC), expressed his appreciation of IRU’s recent activities at the United Nations and the launch of the GPST, noting the role the IRU initiative can play in implementing the UN’s post-2015 agenda and new Sustainable Development Goals in transport-related areas.

Igor Runov, IRU Under-Secretary General, who leads IRU’s work with the United Nations, also took the opportunity to thank ICC for its recent support for the GPST and IRU’s recent initiatives in the area of trade and transport facilitation, the Global Silk Routes Initiative and new approaches to the creation of cross-border transport infrastructure.

The ICC also confirmed their readiness to promote transport-related topics in the UN, especially in the view of the recent decision of the United Nations to grant Observer Status with the UN General Assembly to ICC.
