IRU welcomes EU vote to curb bogus employment practices by platforms
The European Parliament, meeting in plenary yesterday, has given the green light to its Committee on Employment and Social Affairs (EMPL) to negotiate with the Council on new rules to reclassify platform employees. The Parliament has taken the right turn by limiting the Platform Workers Directive’s scope to purely digital platform players.
Industry groups warn on new EU truck CO₂ rules risk to supply chains
Brussels, 1 February 2023 – Road transport, shippers and energy groups in Europe have called for carbon neutral fuels to be recognised as a long-term decarbonisation solution, alongside electrification and hydrogen, for a well-functioning and stable EU logistics sector.
Implementing e-CMR in Moldova: laying the foundation
Having embraced digitalisation, Moldova is now in the process of laying the groundwork for the implementation of e-CMR. A Moldovan delegation recently visited IRU to discuss pro-active steps that can be taken to implement e-CMR in Moldova and neighbouring countries. Moldova’s public and private sectors have been working together to ease the introduction of e-CMR.
Parking innovator Freightsafe joins IRU
Freightsafe, a young company set on improving parking for trucks with a novel approach, has joined IRU as its newest member. Founded in 2017, Freightsafe installs and operates automated smart parking ports for trucks. The company is looking to change the way secure parking works by giving drivers and transport operators the power to procure secure parking where and when needed.
