French authorities have published new guidance for the road transport sector, implementing the so called ‘Loi Macron’. The guidelines regulate activities of notably foreign road transport companies when doing transport operations in France. The law states that as of 1 July 2016 foreign-based drivers must receive the French minimum wage and foreign operators must designate a representative in France.
For the sake of legal certainty for operators, IRU would have hoped that before proceeding with the implementation of ‘Loi Macron’, the French authorities would have waited for the outcome of the European Commission’s investigation in the German MiLoG case as the two initiatives use the same concepts. IRU has contacted the French Ministry of Transport requesting detailed practical information on the new provisions in order to inform Members.
