Smartfusion project

Showcasing the road to a greener future

The Smartfusion project demonstrated creative ways to make urban goods deliveries more efficient and sustainable.

If we are going to take greater steps towards greener road transport, then innovation is key. It is important for us to put exciting new innovations on display for the world to see.

Different cities, different solutions- Smartfusion in action

In 2015, Smartfusion used three trial cities to show exactly what advancements are being made in sustainable road transport.

  • In Berlin, Germany, we demonstrated integrated technology solutions using hybrid trucks.

  • In Como, Italy, we displayed a remote monitoring system for improving emissions management and energy forecasting in fully electric vehicles.

  • In Newcastle, UK, we used fully electric trucks to show the benefits of a collaborative approach between shippers, logistics companies and local government.

This project was part of our ‘30-by-30’ commitment to reduce the road transport industry’s CO2 emissions by 30% by 2030.
