Digital logistics to grow Eurasian trade

3 أغسطس 2017 Astana

IRU President Christian Labrot, is in Astana at the second edition of the Eurasian Week International Forum, focusing on digital logistics and Eurasian trade potential.

With road transport crucial for the region’s economies, the continuing digitalisation of transit and logistics – with tools such as digital TIR and e-CMR – offers huge opportunities to help grow export markets.

The event will also survey the outcomes of China’s Belt and Road initiative for the Eurasian region, which is the bridge between Europe and China, and a strategic crossroads for global trade.

Christian Labrot said,                                                                                                                                                         “This is an exciting moment to be in Astana, and I look forward to engaging with leaders from across the region on facilitating trade, improving transport and boosting economic growth.”

Held by the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) member states with the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) in partnership with IRU, the event takes place on 24-26 August in Astana, Kazakhstan. It is one of the most prominent business events at the World EXPO-2017.

With a number of events organised or co-organised by IRU, other key topics include China’s preparations for TIR implementation, competitiveness in the changing economic environment, free movement of goods, services, capital and labour, and the economy of the future.
