The 31st IRU World Congress ended today with a joint call from IRU and Transport Ministers for a genuine Public-Private Partnership to allow road transport to drive peace and prosperity along the Silk Road by removing procedural barriers.

The 31st IRU World Congress in Istanbul, Republic of Turkey, brings together close to 2000 road transport company CEOs and government decision-makers from some 70 countries to examine road transport’s vital role in driving peace and prosperity.

IRU and ECO sign Memorandum of Understanding
|
IRU President, Janusz Lacny, and IRU Secretary General, Martin Marmy, today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Economic Cooperation Organisation (ECO), represented by its Director of Transport and Communications, Mr. Mohammad Mirzaei Kahag. The MoU aims to strengthen cooperation in order to develop a constructive public-private partnership on issues of interest to both organisations, including the implementation of key UNECE multilateral facilitation instruments to reduce barriers to road transport in ECO member states.

TIR Convention: best instrument to implement WCO Safe Framework, including AEO status
|
The IRU General Assembly today adopted a Resolution calling upon all competent national and intergovernmental authorities to promote the use of the TIR Convention to fully implement the WCO SAFE Framework of Standards including AEC status, to effectively secure the international supply chain without penalising the free movement of goods.
