Policy-forming and co-ordination

- Preparation of IRU road safety policy and project implementation through the IRU Road Safety Commission, the IRU Technical Affairs Commission, the Groups of Experts on Professional Training and the Transport of Dangerous Goods.
- Participation in the work of the ECE/UN Inland Transport Committee Working Parties: on Road Traffic Safety, on the Construction of Vehicles, on the Transport of Dangerous Goods and on the work of Crews of Vehicles engaged in International Road Transport.
- Participation in UNECE Road Safety Weeks, the fourth being scheduled for 5-11 April 2004.
- Membership and participation in the work of the Global Road Safety Partnership, established in 1999 under the impetus of the World Bank.
- Participation in the Social Dialogue Committee in the framework of the European Union.
- Participation in international conferences and symposia on the subject of road safety, organised by such bodies as the United Nations, the International Labour Organisation, the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development, the European Conference of Ministers of Transport , the European Commission and the European Agency for Safety and Health at Work, as well as by non-governmental international organisations.
