Traffic congestion increases CO2 emissions by 300% !
If a 40 tonne lorry is driving at 50 km/h, it will use around 28 l/100km. If it has to stop once per one km it will already consume 52 litres and if it has to stop two times during a stretch of one km the fuel consumption will increase considerably to 84 litres. Road congestion increases fuel consumption and thus CO2 emissions by 300% ! Free flowing traffic is a prerequisite for reducing CO2 emissions.
