Belarusian transport leader honoured
Geneva – Nikolai Borovoi, President of the IRU’s Belarusian member, the Association of International Road Carriers (BAMAP) was awarded a medal for “Services to Labour” by the President of the Republic of Belarus, Mr Aleksandr Lukashenko, on 30 June 2008.
This distinction rewards Mr Borovoi’s longstanding career dedicated to the development and improvement of the Belarusian and international road transport industry, acknowledging his workmanship, exemplary fulfilment of official duties, fruitful public work and highly productive achievements.
Nikolai Borovoi started his career as a driver, and has been serving the Belarusian road transport industry for 36 years, notably acting as Director General of the “Belmagistralavtotrans” road transport company in the 80’-90’. His record includes the creation of a network of transport and forwarding enterprises in Belarus and the surrounding region (Poland, Germany and Russia).
Mr Borovoi initiated the creation of BAMAP in 1992 and has been its President ever since. He has also been an active and well respected figure within the IRU, especially as Vice-President of the IRU’s Liaison Committee to the CIS region (CLCEI) in 2006-2008. Involved in professional training activities, he also contributed to the establishment in Minsk of BAMAP-VEDY, a professional training centre, part of the IRU Academy’s international network of Accredited Training Institutes (ATIs).
This distinction honours not only Mr Borovoi but, in particular, the IRU and all its Member Associations. This is why the IRU warmly congratulates Mr Borovoi for this distinction which perfectly reflects his great achievements and personal contribution, over the years, to the promotion of the national and international road transport.
