IRU Goods Transport Council

IRU Goods transport

Objective

Define and attain the IRU transport policy objectives laid down in Article 2 of the IRU Constitution, with a view to promoting and developing road goods transport nationally and internationally and to safeguarding the industry's interests.

In the context of the above general objective, the CTM’s priorities are to:

  • Advance the facilitation and security of road goods transport by eliminating barriers and difficulties hindering the progress of the industry, as well as oppose any discriminatory measures against this transport mode.
  • Promote the economic, social and environmental objectives of sustainable development in the road goods transport sector.

Permanent and long term working programme

  • Contribute to the facilitation of road goods transport by eliminating barriers, any discriminatory measures and difficulties hindering the progress of the industry. Promote globally the implementation of multilateral facilitation and security instruments, such as the TIR Convention.
  • Foster the economic, social and environmental objectives of sustainable development in the road goods transport sector, including measures to increase road safety.
  • Expand co-operation among regions of the World by harmonising conditions of competition, linking markets of road goods transport services and contributing to the process of globalisation.
  • Promote high-standard road infrastructure requirements, the permanent need for maintenance and investments in major international transport corridors including the provision of secure and civilised parking and other road-side facilities of suitable quality. Promote the idea of revitalising the Silk Road.
  • Co-operate with authorities to increase the level of security in the supply chain.
