Taxis and Hire-Cars with Driver

• Representing operators of taxis and hire cars with driver at international level;
• Group 28 associations in 25 countries, including the United States;
• Promote taxi transport and protect the interests of taxi operators.

Working programme:

• Representing the sector's interests with international governmental or professional organisations, i.e. ECMT,EU and UITP;
• Promoting direct communication between members to encourage mutual assistance within the profession;
• Facilitating contacts with the industry associated with taxis;
• Implementing the recommendations resulting from the joint ECMT/IRU study (2001) to improve taxi services provided to older and disabled people;
• Monitoring technical developments such as clean fuels, electronic taximeters, computerisation of call centres and satellite vehicle tracking systems;
• Evaluate the TOI report "Taxi Regulation in Europe" and prepare recommendations on its contents.
• Develop and promote international rules relating to access to the profession of taxi operator.
• Promote higher passenger and driver safety in the taxi sector.
