Objectives: - Representing operators of taxis and hire cars with driver at international level;
- Group 28 associations in 25 countries, including the United States;
- Promote taxi transport and protect the interests of taxi operators.
Working programme:
- Representing the sector's interests with international governmental or professional organisations, i.e. ECMT,EU and UITP;
- Promoting direct communication between members to encourage mutual assistance within the profession;
- Facilitating contacts with the industry associated with taxis;
- Implementing the recommendations resulting from the joint ECMT/IRU study (2001) to improve taxi services provided to older and disabled people;
- Monitoring technical developments such as clean fuels, electronic taximeters, computerisation of call centres and satellite vehicle tracking systems;
- Evaluate the TOI report "Taxi Regulation in Europe" and prepare recommendations on its contents.
- Develop and promote international rules relating to access to the profession of taxi operator.
- Promote higher passenger and driver safety in the taxi sector.
