Group of Experts on Combined Transport (GETC)

Define the IRU strategy on combined and multimodal transport for the competent bodies and make proposals to the various international bodies dealing with multimodal transport.

Working Programme

• Inform the IRU bodies and members of the development and the operating conditions of combined rail/road and multimodal transport.
• Draw up and define the IRU policy with regard to combined and multimodal transport.
• Analyse the cost/benefit ratio of development projects for combined rail/road and multimodal transport used by road transport operators.
• Develop and follow up proposals concerning combined transport emanating from the UNECE, the EU and other international bodies.
• Promote combined transport, with partners, as well as various projects funded by the EU and influence EU projects by participating in consultative meetings.
• Strive for quality improvements of combined transport by promoting harmonised horizontal transfer techniques.
