Liaison Committee with the Commonwealth of Independent States (CLCEI)

Objectives:

To promote actively the role and importance of road transport in the CIS countries;
To represent the interests of IRU Members in CIS countries, both nationally and internationally;
To secure a fair, non-discriminatory legal environment for international and domestic transportation within the CIS;
To help remove economic and bureaucratic barriers to road transport in the CIS Member States;
To provide information support for road transport operators in the CIS Member States;
To build partnerships with other national and international business and transport organisations, to enhance the image of the IRU in CIS Member States.

Working programme:

Provide information support via the Information Centre, website, hotline, internet conferences, regular publications, press conferences, and ad-hoc seminars and workshops.
Work with CIS Governments and Agencies, including the Coordination Transport Council of the Ministers of Transport (CTC CIS) and the Economic Council of Executive Committee of CIS, to dismantle barriers to road transport.
Analyse the state of the road transport sector in Russia and other CIS countries via IRU Blue Papers.
Support the IRU Academy within the CIS, including promotion of a concept of mutual recognition of road transport operators' national diplomas.
Support Tacis, TRACECA, EBRD, World Bank, UN and other projects aimed at improving the legal, economic and technical conditions of road transport within the CIS.
Limit the possible negative effects of EU enlargement on CIS road transport operators.
