These subjects cover vehicle improvement (optimising weight and dimensions, reducing noise and gas emissions, improving energy savings and road safety, etc), administrative documents related to vehicles, loading units and techniques, and their integration into the transport chain, particularly in combined or dangerous goods transport.
Working programme

- Elaborate and define – as drafts for competent bodies – IRU’s policies on technical issues relating to road transport.
- Elaborate and analyse in cooperation with heavy duty commercial vehicle manufacturers and tyre manufactures the technical development in order to optimise operations, productivity, mobility, safety, security, environment protection and energy in road transport.
- Elaborate and analyse proposals concerning weights and dimensions of road vehicles and loading units used in transport, from UNECE (WP 29), the International Transport Forum (ex-ECMT), EU institutions and standardisation organisations.
- Elaborate and follow-up other proposals concerning road transport from the UNECE, the International Transport Forum and EU institutions.
- Elaborate and analyse the consequences of new environmental protection norms and measures on vehicles and transport operators.
