Greetings to the Participants in the Caravan

I am delighted to learn that a pilot
container transport Caravan is being organized from Beijing to
Brussels during the 3rd IRU Euro-Asian Conference.
The United Nations Economic and Social
Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP) has been collaborating
closely with member countries and our sister organization the
Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) to promote interregional
transport links between Europe and Asia.
The Asian Highway Network and E-roads
form an important part of this linkages. I am therefore delighted
that the Caravan will follow many of the Asian Highway routes to
Europe and demonstrate the great potential for Land Transport
operations.
On behalf of UNESCAP, I would like to
congratulate the concerned countries and the IRU for organising the
event.
