Vasile ZGARDAN Minister of Transport, Moldova

Mr. Chairman, Ladies and Gentleman,

Allow me personally and on behalf of the Government of the Republic of Moldova to express my sincere gratitude for the invitation to participate in such an authoritative conference.

It is well known that international road transport is the engine of the economic growth of a modern economy because it is the most effective, cheap and reliable way to deliver the goods from suppliers to customers. Today, this type of transport is the instrument of integration processes and it contributes to the international trade and tourism development.

A more intensive integration in European structures creates new opportunities for our country and strengthens its role as a transit country. Intensive cooperation with international organizations - like the IRU - is highly important for the further enhancement of the international image of the Republic of Moldova as a reliable partner.

I'd like to express my hope that the positive outcome of this Congress will contribute to our common goal of economic growth and I wish all participants good health and success in their professional activities.
